The Importance of Being Earnest

April 21-30 of 2017 Rochester, NY

This show has it all: an INCREDIBLE cast, beautiful costumes and set, Oscar Wilde’s hysterical dialogue, love, deception, and a food fight. Even the set changes were entertaining.

WallByrd Theatre Company Presents Oscar Wilde's "The Importance of Being Earnest" April 21st-30th at the Lyric Theater in Rochester NY.

SYNOPSIS

"A Trivial Comedy for Serious People"

A wickedly witty tale of two well-to-do bachelors who share but one (fictitious) identity.

To escape the monotony of life, John "Jack" Worthing and friend Algernon "Algy" Moncrieff are not above bending the truth in the name of good fun (and proper etiquette). Adopting an alter-ego named Earnest, they attempt to win the love of two ladies who have their own hearts set on marrying a man named Earnest. Misadventure is quick to follow. Jack and Algy become entangled in a web of white lies, disguises, and the absurdity of Victorian sensibilities.

Tickets available at $20 general admission. Student tickets available day-of only at $15 (space permitting.)

Group rates available by contacting hello@wallbyrd.com

Please Note: There will be an ASL interpreted show on Saturday, April 29th.

Schenk and Coomber are ideally cast; their lively tête-à-têtes, are some of the funniest in the show.
